My Weekly Poem

WALT read a poem and analyse the language features of a poem. This will help us think poetically so that we can write a similar poem to share with others.

1. Summarise the poem you have read in your own words.
  • The poem I read this week is about.... Friendship and just having all these great friends in my life.

2. Identify at least 2 different language features in the poem and give examples. You can identify more than 2 language features.

  • One of the language features in this poem is a _metaphor___. Here is an example of this language feature... I’m like a locked diary book that can not be open.

  • Another language feature in this poem is a _rhyme___ .Here is an example of this language feature... you are the dove that rhymes with love.

3. Evaluate (which means reflect and give your opinion) the author’s purpose for writing this poem - in your answers include the words: inform, entertain, persuade.

  • By analysing the poem I have read this week I think the author wrote this poem because.. she just wants to say thank you to her best friend for always being there for in the past and now.
  • The author was informing the audience about... true friendship and just being yourself and don’t try and be someone else stay true to you.
  • The author was entertaining the audience by... (emotions/language features)... and what the author really hooked me into what he was saying about friendship.
  • The author is trying to persuade the audience to think/believe/reflect... that friends come and go but best friends stay with you.

4. Add a picture on your Doc related to you.
